Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of the Universidade Católica portuguesa, will be honoured today, June 25, with the Personality of the Year award, at the 9th AmCham Tributes Awards Ceremony, which will take place at the Pestana Palace Hotel.
The event celebrates the friendship between Portugal and the United States of America (USA) and will be chaired by the Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, and by the US Ambassador to Portugal, Randi Charno Levine. It will also be attended by Ricardo Arroja, President of the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (AICEP) and many AmCham Portugal’s partners.
The AmCham Tributes recognise the contributions of companies, institutions and personalities to the rapprochement and understanding between Portugal and the USA, with a special focus on strengthening economic and commercial relations. This year, the theme of the gala will be "Celebrating Friendship and Embracing Freedom" and will feature special appearances by the Carlucci American International School of Lisbon (CAISL) and the Music Theater Lisbon (MTL).
The gala will also announce the four winning companies of the AmCham Tributes 2024, in addition to the Personality of the Year awards, which will be presented to Isabel Capeloa Gil and surfer Garrett McNamara. The jury is led by António Martins da Costa, President of AmCham Portugal, and includes representatives from the US Embassy in Portugal, AICEP, the Luso-American Development Foundation, the Portugal-US Friendship Association and Deloitte.
