Pope Francis has appointed Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP) as a consultant to the Dicastery for Culture and Education. For the Rector, "it is a privilege to be able to serve the Holy See in the mission of empowering and enlightening humanity through education and culture." Isabel Capeloa Gil was already a consultant to the Congregation for Catholic Education which, with the reform of the Curia, gave way to a new organism, the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
The Rector of the Catholic University of Portugal will now collaborate with Portuguese Cardinal D. José Tolentino Mendonça, former vice-rector of the Catholic University and prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
The organization was born with the publication of the apostolic constitution "Praedicate Evangelium" on March 19, 2022, and assumes the missions previously entrusted to the Congregation for Catholic Education and the Pontifical Council for Culture.
