Católica establishes Humanitarian Scholarship Program

Fundo Papa Francisco

In response to the present humanitarian context aggravated by the war in Europe, Universidade Católica Portuguesa has instituted a Humanitarian Scholarship program in order to respond according to its values and the sense of mission that guides it.

Through the Initiative of Support to Refugee Students and Researchers, 24 scholarships are provided for 17 courses in Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Viseu. These scholarships are intended for undergraduate students who have received International Protection from the Foreigners and Borders Service and open doors to the future of students at risk, displaced from different conflicts.

The UCP's initiative is part of the implementation of Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals, Quality Education, as well as aims to contribute to achieving the United Nations Goal, 15by30, so that in 2030 15% of refugees are attending higher education.

In order to strengthen the support that the University provides to these students in humanitarian emergencies, we are appealing to the generosity of alumni, friends and partners through donations to the Pope Francis Fund.

The social support fund was established in 2017 to honor Pope Francis and aims to enable especially needy, migrant and refugee students to access Catholic University courses.
