The second edition of Alma Mater (AM), a biannual magazine, came out in November 2022 and, according to Paulo Campos Pinto, its director, the objective is to “stimulate an emotional connection with the Catholic ‘brand’”.
The publication brings together articles, reports and interviews with members of the academic community, such as alumni, teachers, collaborators, students, researchers and partners.
In the field of relevant alumni, this edition features an interview with António Horta Osório, a flahscard by Isabel Jonet and, in the “Word of alumni” section, profiles of Alexis Tam, Alexandra Machado and Ayham Khadem Al-Arbien.
As for the university's projects and programs, this edition of the magazine highlights the Girl Move Academy Project, the Back to Market Program and William Hasselberger's Digital Ethics Lab.
Also highlighted in the magazine is the Católica Alumni Meeting, organized by UCP's Development Office, which took place in New York in June 2022 and was attended by students from various backgrounds currently living and working in the city.
Among other relevant topics in this edition, we would also like to highlight the profiles of D. Manuel Clemente, Cardinal-Patriarch of Lisbon, Célia Manaia, one of the most cited scientists in the world and João Manuel Duque, Pro-Rector of UCP.
Concerning relevant news about the university, this edition highlights the Isabel Capeloa Gil's meeting with António Guterres at the UN headquarters, the presentation of the new Campus Veritati (and the donation made by Logoplaste), the appointment of the Rector by Pope Francis as a consultant to the Congregation for Catholic Education and the presence of eight UCP researchers in the “World's Top 2% Scientists 2021”.
Finally, this edition also presents UCP's main statistics, which represent the university's impact over 50 years, and the balance of the first year of activity of the new Faculty of Medicine, which is committed to training doctors of excellence.
