President of Católica will speak at Bürgerfest in Germany

The President of Universidade Católica Portuguesa will be one of the guest speakers at the Bürgerfest, or Citizens' Festival, an initiative promoted annually by the President of Germany at his official residence in Berlin, Bellevue Palace, to celebrate civic participation and citizenship.

As part of the entourage of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who will be making an official visit to Germany between 11 and 13 September to also participate in the Bürgerfest, Isabel Capeloa Gil will take part in a debate on ‘How to give hope to children in times of crisis’. It will be moderated by the First Lady of Germany, Elke Büdenbender, and the panel of speakers will also include the Chair of the Board of Directors of Otto Goup, Petra Scharner-Wolff, and the Secretary of State of Rhineland-Palatinate, Heike Raab.

The Bürgerfest, or Citizens' Festival, is a free event designed for all ages, which aims to strengthen civil society and reinforce social cohesion by highlighting voluntary work and civic engagement among citizens. Held in the gardens of Bellevue Palace over two days, it offers a diverse programme with themed stands and activities on different stages, such as concerts, dance performances, reading sessions and debates.
