New Medical School

As part of the launch of the new Faculty of Medicine, the Universidade Católica has hosted an important internacional Conference about the Values and Technology in Medical Inovation in the context of the critical issues and opportunities facing society as the world emerges from a devastating pandemic. 

The Conference took place in a hybrid online and in-person format (the latter on the premises of Universidade Católica Portuguesa) on the afternoon of May 20, and has gathered over 500 participants, both national and international. 

O orador de abertura da conferência foi o Presidente da GAVI e ex-Presidente da Comissão Europeia, Dr. José Manuel Durão Barroso.

Os três painéis seguintes versaram os temas:

• "O acesso aos Medicamentos", painel moderado por Michael Stopford, que contou com os speakers Isabel Vaz (Grupo Luz), Jeff Kemprecos (GSK), Claire Bloomfield (Oxford University) e Ben Newton (GE);
• "Como é que a Era Digital e a Tecnologia influenciam a Medicina?", que contou com a moderação de Ricardo Costa e teve como oradores Filipa Fixe (Glinnt), Rogério Gaspar (WHO), Robert Wachter (University of San Francisco) e Ivan França (Siemens Healthineers);
• "Como podem as parcerias públicas/privadas responder ao crescente desafio dos cuidados de saúde?", moderado pelo Diretor da Faculdade de Medicina Dr. António de Almeida e com a participação dos panelistas Annemie Schols (Maastricht University), Mécia Fonseca (Novartis) e Rui Santos Ivo (Infarmed) .
