Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) took another step in its path of innovation and commitment to sustainable development by inaugurating the new Auditorium Corticeira Amorim at the Porto Regional Centre on 9 September. This new, modern and fully equipped space is the result of a strategic partnership with Corticeira Amorim and reflects UCP's commitment to promoting spaces of excellence that respond to contemporary global challenges.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of UCP, who addressed Integral Ecology at UCP as a way of seeking an ethical and evidence-based response to global challenges. She also highlighted the Insure Hub, an innovative UCP’s initiative that is promoting a holistic vision for more sustainable businesses, and the new PhD in Integral Ecology - the only one in the world, which positions UCP at the forefront of knowledge in this crucial area.
During the inauguration, Isabel Braga da Cruz, Pro-Rector of UCP, stated that the name of the new auditorium represents “a partnership that makes us very proud” and that the place is “a reflection of the convergence of values that both entities share, namely the commitment to a sustainable world.”
The event was also attended by António Rios Amorim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Corticeira Amorim, and included a round table discussion on “Sustainability, Innovation and Business”.
The inauguration of this auditorium is further proof of the UCP’s ability to create bridges between academia and business, always with a focus on positive social impact.
