Donation by Grupo José de Mello
The Portuguese Catholic University has received one of the largest donations ever made to a university in Portugal, totaling 12 million euros, donated by the José de Mello Group and the José de Mello family.
The donation will be formalized on December 10 at the Rectory of the Portuguese Catholic University by Dr. Vasco de Mello and the Rector of UCP, Prof. Isabel Capeloa Gil, in the presence of Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon Manuel Clemente. The Rector of UCP, Isabel Capeloa Gil points out that this project "demonstrates the great alignment between the José de Mello family and UCP in the common purpose of contributing to the creation of value and affirming differentiating projects for the country, as is the case with the Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, a UCP school of worldwide quality and reference."
The José de Mello Group and the José de Mello family have always played an extremely important role in supporting UCP and the activities carried out by this university, both in terms of granting scholarships and supporting research. Dr. Vasco de Mello says: "Our support aims to strengthen the role of university institutions in training qualified young people who can contribute to Portugal's development."
