MATRIZ is part of the inauguration activity program for the site-specific dead-end artwork # 19.2020, commissioned from João Louro by UCP. The Matriz Project is by João Louro and curated by Nuno Crespo.
The Matrix project is divided into two parts. A first dead-end placed on the front of the building of the Faculties of Theology, Humanities, and Law. And an exhibition at Galeria Fundação Amélia de Mello, with the name Matriz.
Matriz is a process that allows, from an alphabet, to create any kind of thought.
This exhibition starts from the premise that the alphabet is, since its origin, an infinite space of possibilities. A variety of meanings not given at the outset, but it must be articulated through forms of conjugation and creation. This alphabet is assumed not as a principle of description or demonstration of concepts, images, or forms, but as a form and place of creation.
