The President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), Isabel Capeloa Gil, took part in the seminar "Universities as Change Agents to Create Gender-Based Violations-Free Society", organised by the Board of Directors of the European Women Rectors Association (EWORA), at the Mikolas Romeris University in Vilnius, on 29 October.
The seminar aimed to discuss the impact that higher education institutions can have on academic communities and society in general, as well as ensuring gender equality through organisational culture, contributing to a change of mentality in societies and making them more inclusive and sensitive.
The panel discussion brought together Pamela Gillies (former Vice-Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University), Kerstin Tham (President of EWORA), Beth Stroble (Chancellor Emeritus of Webster University), Vilana Pilinkaitė-Sotirovič (Researcher at the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences), Ramunė Jakštienė (Associate Professor at Mykolas Romeris University) and Isabel Capeloa Gil on the topic of "Equity and opportunity. A case for the Women + initiative".
Since May 2022, Isabel Capeloa Gil has been a member of the Board of Directors of EWORA, an international non-profit association that works to promote the “role of women in leadership positions in the academic sector” and to defend “gender equality in higher education and research on a European and international scale”.
