Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), took part in the Plenary Assembly of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, on the theme “Education and culture in the age of transition”, at the Vatican on 19 and 20 November.
Appointed by Pope Francis in February 2023 as a consultant to the Dicastery for Culture and Education, the Rector of the UCP took part in this meeting, where several of the educational and cultural challenges of the present and future were debated.
Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, opened the Assembly, which included a talk by Isabel Capeloa Gil on the crisis in the human sciences called “Rethinking The Humanities: from Crisis to Wonderland”.
This plenary session was an important step towards tackling current challenges and promoting a constructive dialogue between culture and education.
Also during this event, Isabel Capeloa Gil met with His Holiness Pope Francis, who sent a greeting to the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
