Católica contributes to the report "Towards a Better Health Information System for the People"

With the contribution of Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), The National Health Council has drawn up the report "Towards a Better Health Information System for the People", which aims to be a critical reflection on the health information system of the SNS and the health system as a whole in Portugal in 2022.

José Manuel Pereira de Almeida, Vice-Rector of the UCP, contributed to this reflection within the framework of the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities.

Margarida Gaspar de Matos, a professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences, and Ana Pedroso, a Law alumna at UCP, contributed the drafting of the initial document that led to the report, that is now open for debate and public consultation until the 3rd of August 2024.

Although it is not a technical report, the document brings together and systematises a set of perspectives from different experts in the field, identifying problems and difficulties, but also potential and opportunities for improvement and development. The document is organised into four parts and covers topics such as primary and secondary framing and use of data, the use of health information, information for health system management, and the European Health Data Space.
