The Católica Global School of Law has signed a protocol with the PLMJ law firm in order to strengthen the collaborative ties between the two entities.
Through a set of initiatives, the institutions seek to bring "academic teaching and the practice of law closer together", says Bruno Ferreira, PLMJ's managing partner. Among the initiatives is the "PLMJ Chair in Law & Technology" program, which reinforces the UCP faculty by hiring professionals and researchers from the area.
"This protocol enables CGLS to reinforce its teaching staff with one more professor of excellence, hired through an international competition, in an area of growing importance in law. We thank PLMJ for the implicit recognition of the quality of our teaching and research that this support implies and we hope to continue to deepen our collaboration in different areas", says Miguel Poiares Maduro, Director of the Católica Global School of Law.
The new partnership also ensures the continuation of the sponsorship of degree conferring programs, in particular the Masters in Tax Law, as well as the support to legal research developed by the School's Research Center. "We are proud that PLMJ continues to sponsor our Masters in Tax Law and has decided to reinforce this support by joining our programme of Chairs and Professorships", says Ana Taveira da Fonseca, head of the Lisbon School of the Portuguese Catholic University Law School.
The protocol values the connection between PLMJ and the Catholic University "contributing to the modernization and internationalization of teaching as well as to the development of research in the area of law in Portugal".
