Former student of the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal, Mariana Figueiredo Calado, won the 7th edition of the Law and Technology Award, promoted by Abreu Advogados.
The winning paper, presented by Católica’s alumna, focused on brain implants and the challenges related to the privacy of “neural data”.
The award recognizes law students who have produced innovative work exploring the intersection between new technologies and law. This year, the challenge was to bridge the gap between law and innovation in the medical sector, focusing on the areas of diagnostics, medical equipment, as well as surgical intervention and treatment.
Her insightful analysis also earned her a traineeship at Abreu Advogados, where she will begin her career in September 2025.
